Screenprinting with Nick Gordon - POSTPONED

Sat 7th and Sun 8th June 10am - 4pm

  • a two-day weekend course suitable for beginners and those with some experience

  • You will create a two-colour screenprint using hand drawn stencils and exposed using light sensitive emulsion.

  • Nick Gordon is a local printmaker and artist from Orkney.

Bookbinding with Gillian Stewart of JuJu Books - FULLY BOOKED

Sat 14th & Sun 15th June 10am – 4pm

  • Juju Books is a bookbinding studio based in Glasgow, run by prize-winning bookbinder Gillian Stewart. Gillian is traveling to Orkney to share her skills.

Letterpress Introduction with Edwin Pickstone. 

Sat 28 & Sun 29 June 10am - 4pm

  • a two-day weekend course suitable for beginners and those with some experience.

  • The class will introduce basic typesetting skills and use of the Columbian press to create a text-based poster or print. 

  • Edwin is currently Lecturer, Typography Technician and Designer in Residence at The Glasgow School of Art, where since 2005 he has cared for the school’s collection of letterpress printing equipment. Edwin last visited Soulisquoy in 2017, when he refurbished the Columbian press and led two weekend workshops.

Letterpress Master Class with Edwin Pickstone.

Sat 5th & Sun 6th July 10-4pm.

  • A two-day weekend course suitable for Soulisquoy Members with previous type setting and relief printing experience.

  • The workshop will be a Masterclass.

  • The weekend will focus on the creation of a more extensive piece of text, involving more detailed information and experience in intricacies of type setting and letterpress.

Linocut Introduction with Megumi Barrington-Uenoyama

Tues 5th & Wed 6th August 10-4pm

  • Two-day workshop suitable for beginners and those with some experience

  • The class will introduce linocut and an opportunity to further develop skills in the technique, to create a small edition of prints. 

  • Megumi is a Japanese artist, currently working as a studio assistant at Soulisquoy Printmakers
